The majority of the side activities wind up feeling both mechanically and narratively pointless. An electric bike race feels silly enough in a Spider-Man game, but when the stakes are just “I need someone to try out my electric bike”, it’s hard not to think Miles and Peter have more pressing stuff to be getting on with.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 welcomes players back to the hustle and bustle of New York City and puts Miles Morales and Peter Parker into the shared spotlight. While the adventure to take down Kraven is mostly linear, offering players a straightforward narrative, there’s still a lot of side content to dive into, like combat challenges, collectibles, quests, and much more. Not only that, but during open-world gameplay, players will be able to freely swap between Peter Parker and Miles Morales at the touch of a button, akin to GTA 5’s character-swapping feature. Luckily, the Web Grabber gadget will seek to weaken enemies, forcing them into the gadget by pulling them with webbing so that they are knocked into each other and so that Spider-Man can whack and pow his way through the crooks of New York. There’s nothing more satisfying than using Spider-Man’s brutal punches and kicks, paired with his extreme agility, to juggle someone in the air with a flurry of justice. Spider-Man’s air combat is extremely fun, so engaging in Air Combos is made even easier with Upshot, allowing Spider-Man to beat on the baddies with a fun gadget. As Peter Parker fights his way through the crime wave of New York City in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, he’s going to need the best abilities to back him up. Normally I’m a very story-focused player, but something about Spider-Man 2’s New York compelled me to deal with every side activity I possibly could and because of this, I clocked in 25 hours before I completed Peter and Miles’ journey.

PlayStation’s PC releases have been equally blessed and cursed, with fans complaining about their controversial PlayStation Network account requirements. God of War Ragnarök was the latest PC release to launch to mixed reviews over the feature. Notably, Insomniac appeared to end hopes for its long-rumored Venom DLC by announcing that the studio has “no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” seemingly ending speculation dating back to last year. Right in the middle is Alexei Sytsevich’s head, which stands out much more than the others.
While we have no additional story content planned for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, we’re delighted to bring all of our previously released post-launch content to the PC version, including New Game+, new suits and color variants, Photo Mode features, and more! We’re also delighted to announce that the Fly N’ Fresh Suit Pack, our charity collab with non-profit Gameheads, will be available for PS5 players in October and PC on launch at no additional cost. As a sequel in a spectacular series, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is both blessed and cursed. Its story of two Spider-Men is a great time and a Spidey fan’s dream to play through as comic book pages are brought to life, elegantly walking the tightrope between light humour and heavier themes. Meanwhile, Insomniac refines a successful formula of combat and web-swinging without revolutionising either in major ways, making them comfy and familiar with just enough new tweaks and abilities to elevate them to fun new heights. The part that feels like it actually needed a radical rethinking is the open world of New York City, which has been made bigger but not better, with an exhausting checklist of mostly repetitious side activities.
If it is a 2025 launch that Sony is aiming for, then expect to hear news about the specifications and features by the end of the year at the very least. Until then, PC fans will have to keep on watching PlayStation players complete missions via gameplay footage. It makes sense that they would try to time pre-orders with the holiday season to capitalize on the market. Although there’s no confirmation right now, fans should rest assured that Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is still on its way to PC. Of course, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2’s performance wasn’t totally unexpected. With the popularity of both previous superhero installments, which were also exclusive to the PlayStation line, Sony could comfortably bet the house on these games.
There are plenty of directions he could go but trying to pick the ‘right’ one is overwhelming and paralyzing. But Martin Li is only seen about two times before he and Miles fight, and then he isn’t seen again until he’s redeemed and loses his powers.
