The final bot is near the exit, so proceed forward until you boost into the upper part of the level. If you stand on top, you’ll see a bird flying around with the final bot in its clutches. Wait for it to get close and then jump off and hit the bot mid-air. Once you’re back outside in the hour glass, boost through the bottom of the spike platform until you reach the next checkpoint. Defeat the enemies and some “gophers” will start popping out of holes near the checkpoint.
PS5 pack-in Astro’s Playroom was a taster dish, teasing players with a short but sweet experience; Astro Bot, then, is the full three-course meal. Developer Team Asobi has been delivering brilliant 3D platformers since PSVR’s Astro Bot Rescue Mission, so it should come as little surprise that this latest entry in the young series is among the best games PS5 has to offer. First, there was a series of five speedrunning levels between October and November, challenging players to complete their trials as quickly and efficiently as possible.
All Secret Exits In Astro Bot
And while you don’t need a long history with Sony systems to enjoy it, it is especially a delight for those with a piece of PlayStation in their heart as a treasure trove full of playable nostalgia awaits. Many of the PlayStation characters appear as short, charming cameos, but a handful play fully-fledged supporting roles. I won’t spoil who gets the star treatment here, aside from one – the previously revealed Kratos. His introduction sees you wield his ice-infused Leviathan axe and take on the role of the exiled Spartan himself in a thrilling change of pace, the frosty blade boomeranging around the level. It’s here where Astro Bot becomes truly magical, elegantly blending nostalgia with new ideas. From bot #4, once you cross the big stone bridge, destroy both purple snakes. Once they’re gone, the purple lake in the middle of the platform will drain automatically, and some grass will grow on the edges. Dig down using your charged melee in the center where the glowing spot appears, and you’ll find a bot waiting for you at the bottom.

You can also unlock the Safari Park, a special zone to hang out in, but it also gives you access to a simple Photo Mode, then usable throughout the game. Astro Bot also manages to find the right balance of difficulty. There are some levels in here that almost had me pulling my hair out (in the best sort of way). But regardless of the difficulty scale, you feel so cool when you figure out the latest mechanics or platforming puzzle. Punch rolling barrels, swing over daring gaps, and pummel your way to the top of the tower to rescue the special bots. It may be 2024’s most immersive game, and it achieves that without a line of dialogue. Instead, each level tells a story, clear as day, about where you ought to go next and what you should do there. A whirl of bots to rescue, of loving Playstation references, of deep cuts like Ape Escape and more recent stars, who get outings I don’t really want to ruin.
